Importation of Plants

 

 

 

Persons bringing plants or plant parts into Thailand are hereby notified under Plant Quarantine Act B.E. 2507 (1964) that the following categories apply to the importation of plants or plant parts:


1. Prohibited Materials : The following plants or plant parts from certain specified regions cannot under circumstances be brought into Thailand, unless permission has been obtained from the Director-General of Department of Agriculture for the purpose of experimentation or research :

  • Oryza spp. (e.g. rice)
  • Hevea spp. (e.g. rubber)
  • Citrus and Fortunella spp. (e.g. oranges, kumquat, limes, and kaffir lime)
  • Cocos nucifera L. (coconut)
  • Manihot esculenta Grant. (cassava)
  • Gossypium spp. (e.g. cotton)
  • Salvinia molesta Match (aquatic fern)
  • Tillandsia usneoides L. (Spanish moss)
  • Soil, Organic fertilizers and plant pests.


2. Restricted Materials : The following plants or plant parts may be brought into Thailand on condition that accompanied by Phytosanitary certificate . Regarding No.1 but from sources not specified in the notification

  • tobacco
  • potato
  • papaya
  • sorghu m
  • mung bean
  • sweet potato
  • malze
  • wheat
  • peanut
  • pineapple
  • tomato
  • taro
  • oil palm
  • cacao
  • Saccharum spp. (e.g. sugarcane, wild cane, etc.)
  • Musa spp (e.g. banana etc.)
  • Aleurites spp (e.g. ma-yao, tung-oil, etc.)
  • Coffea spp. (e.g. coffee, khem-khao, etc.)
  • Camellia spp. (e.g. tea, miang, etc.) and plant in the family Orchidaceae (e.g. Vanda spp., Paphidiopedilum spp., etc.)


3. Unprohibited Materials : The following plants and plant parts, among others, may be brought into Thailand on condition provided free plant pests :

  • apple
  • pear
  • grape
  • litchi
  • Japanese plum
  • mushroom, etc.


NOTE: Restricted and unprohibited materials must be notified at the port of entry. For the prohibited materials already obtained permission must be brought into Thailand only at the certain specified ports.
